On Wednesday, April 21, The Drawing Center will host the 2010 Benefit Gala, co-chaired by Jane Dresner Sadaka, Pat Steir and Isabel Stainow Wilcox. This special evening will celebrate the opening of the exhibition Leon Golub: Live & Die Like a Lion?. The Drawing Center will also honor the career of Nancy Spero, artist and wife of Leon Golub, for her extraordinary contribution to the medium of drawing. The evening will begin with a private viewing of Leon Golub: Live & Die Like a Lion? followed by a cocktail reception and seated dinner at nearby Tribeca Rooftop. Past honorees include Ronald and Jo Carole Lauder, Brice Marden, Richard Tuttle, Richard Serra, Susan Rothenberg, Robert and Sylvia Plimack Mangold, Kara Walker and Pat Steir. Each year the Gala attracts over 300 supporters and prominent members of the art community whose contributions benefit the Center’s groundbreaking exhibitions of historical and contemporary drawings, educational programs, and renowned publications. Funds raised by the event also support the Center’s signature Viewing Program, through which Selections exhibitions of emerging artists and our online Artist Registry are curated.
